
Boxing has been part of our cultural history since ancient Greece, when boxing was established as an Olympic game. During this period only men were allowed to compete. Since then, gender equality within the sport has improved. Following the London 2012 Olympics and the commonwealth games in 2014, female participation in the UK increased dramatically. The work documents a community of stout-hearted women who face the stereotypes and histories of boxing head on.
